چکیده

This article outlines the issues that need to be considered when planning water sampling for chemical monitoring and provides guidance on the work required. In addition, it considers the limitations associated with current monitoring practices based on spot sampling and presents some existing technologies that may used to complement standard spot sampling. a 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Land use impacts on surface water quality by statistical approaches

Surface waters are the most important economic resource for humans which provide water for agricultural, industrial and anthropogenic activities. Surface water quality plays vital role in protecting aquatic ecosystems. Unplanned urbanization, intense agricultural activities and deforestation are positively associated with carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous related water quality parameters. Multip...

A Hybrid Monte Carlo Sampling Filter for Non-Gaussian Data Assimilation

Data assimilation combines information from models, measurements, and priors to obtain improved estimates of the state of a dynamical system such as the atmosphere. Ensemble-based data assimilation approaches such as the Ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) have gained wide popularity due to their simple formulation, ease of implementation, and good practical results. Many of these methods are derived...

A Protocol for Using Surface-floating Pupal Exuviae of Chironomidae for Rapid Bio Assessment of Changing Water Quality

Documentation of biological responses to changing sediment and stream water quality conditions require repeated sampling over extended periods of time. Consequently, significant budgetary and personnel resources must be devoted to maintenance of biomonitoring networks. Alternative methods for monitoring biological responses that are more costeffective than traditional benthic sampling approache...

Sampling and sampling strategies for environmental analysis

Sampling errors are generally believed to dominate the errors of analytical measurement during the entire environmental data acquisition process. Unfortunately, environmental sampling errors are hardly quantified and documented even though analytical errors are frequently yet improperly reported to the third decimal point in environmental analysis. There is a significant discrepancy in directly...

Technical issues affecting the implementation of US Environmental Protection Agency's proposed fish tissue-based aquatic criterion for selenium.

The US Environmental Protection Agency is developing a national water quality criterion for selenium that is based on concentrations of the element in fish tissue. Although this approach offers advantages over the current water-based regulations, it also presents new challenges with respect to implementation. A comprehensive protocol that answers the "what, where, and when" is essential with th...
